Backend Developer (Java / Spring Boot)

We are currently looking for a Backend Developer (Java / Spring Boot) to join an innovative technology project in Lisbon.

Required Competencies

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in backend software development.

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17 or higher, Spring Boot and Hibernate.

• Experience designing, developing and integrating REST APIs.

• Solid knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, including Oracle, PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

• Experience with Git and version control best practices.

• Knowledge of messaging systems, particularly Apache Kafka.

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.

• Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies.

• Experience developing, maintaining and improving enterprise applications.

• Ability to produce technical documentation and apply software engineering best practices.

• Experience mentoring and supporting junior developers, assigning tasks and reviewing deliverables.

• Strong communication, analytical thinking, autonomy, proactivity and teamwork skills.

• Interest in using AI-assisted development tools to improve software engineering processes.

Preferred Competencies

• Previous experience in the banking sector.

• Knowledge of Document Management Systems, OCR and Generative AI (GenAI).

• Experience with Cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure or AWS.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and optimize scalable backend applications.

• Identify and implement software development best practices and technical improvements.

• Adopt AI-powered development tools to improve productivity and code quality.

• Produce and maintain technical documentation.

• Support junior developers through task specification, technical guidance and deliverable validation.

• Collaborate with production support teams, ensuring effective knowledge transfer.

• Work closely with Product Owners to understand business requirements and deliver technical solutions.

• Contribute to code quality, application reliability and continuous improvement.

Working Conditions

📍 Location: Lisbon, Portugal

💻 Working Model: Hybrid — 2 days per week on-site and 3 days remote.

📅 Availability: Within 30 days, ideally sooner.

💰 Salary Range: €2,000–€2,300 gross per month.
